Diprotodon sculptures
aussiePlaces, mtisaQLD

These diprotodon sculptures represent the giant extinct marsupial “megafauna” that once roamed inland Australia during the Pleistocene epoch. They are a distant relative of modern wombats and koalas. Fossils have been found throughout western Queensland, including near Mount Isa, where ancient lakebeds preserved their remains. [0822]
